History of Isabella Bed And Breakfast

Isabella Bed And Breakfast is owned and operated by the husband-and-wife team of Phil and Bobbye Pinnix. The idea to establish a bed and breakfast came shortly after Phil retired. In order to convince his wife to join him in a well-deserved retirement, Phil searched for a reason for Bobbye to leave a successful career in residential home remodeling. Inspiration struck when the couple discovered the historic Person Home on the market in quite poor condition, and purchased the property in 2010. Over the next year, Phil and Bobby drew on considerable know-how to restore the home while maintaining its important historical characteristics. One major highlight of the project was adding private baths to each bedroom. With the Person Home restored to its former glory, Phil and Bobbye opened Isabella Bed And Breakfast in March 2011.

History of the Person Home

Originally constructed in 1834 as a small one story dog- trot cottage, the property was updated to become a two-story residence in 1880. The James W. Person family purchased the home in 1908, where Isabella Person and four siblings were born and Isabella continued to live for the next 92 years. After her death, it quickly fell into a state of sad disrepair. It wasn’t until Phil and Bobbye Pinnix’s extensive restoration in 2010 that the Person Home again became a source of Southern pride. With its magnificent stained-glass windows and stately 1880 Queen Anne architecture, guests enjoy classical beauty and an array of modern amenities. After an extensive renovation, all Phil and Bobbye needed was a name for their new bed and breakfast. They chose Isabella Bed And Breakfast to honor Isabella Person who had lived in this wonderful residence her entire life.
